Edulla Privacy Policy

Edulla (“Edulla”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) describes our practices with respect to your personal information and how you can contact us.

Edulla provides a chatbot service for current and prospective students on U.S.-based college and university websites (the “Edulla Service”). We take measures to protect the privacy of all visitors, users, and others who access our Service (“you” or “Users”). This Policy applies to our website located at https://edulla.ai/ and any other websites owned and/or operated by Edulla, and your use of the Edulla Service (collectively, our “Service”).

Section 1. About This Policy

Intended For Users in the United States

Edulla operates in accordance with the laws of the United States. The Service is intended for use by individuals located in the United States. By using this Website, you acknowledge that any personal information you provide may be transferred to and processed in the United States.

Accessibility

Persons with disabilities may obtain this privacy notice in alternative formats upon request by contacting us at support@edulla.ai.

Section 2. Scope of This Policy

This Policy applies only when Edulla is collecting or otherwise processing personal information for Edulla’s purposes, i.e., when Edulla—either alone or in common with other entities—is a data controller and therefore determines the purposes for which and the manner in which any personal information is processed.

When Edulla processes personal information on behalf of its customers (e.g., colleges and universities), we act as a data processor, and our processing of those data is governed by our agreement(s) with the customers. In such cases, please refer to the privacy policies of the respective colleges or universities.

Third-Party Relationships

Edulla may engage third-party vendors or subcontractors (e.g., for hosting, analytics, or other services) to support our Service. Specifically, we use Amazon Web Services (AWS) for data hosting and storage. We ensure that these third parties are bound by contractual obligations to process personal information in compliance with applicable data protection laws and this Policy.

Section 3. Information We Collect & How We Use It

Edulla commits to full compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) when handling any student education records. Any information collected through our chatbot that constitutes an education record under FERPA will be protected in accordance with that law.

Note: We do not purposefully collect any sensitive personal information such as demographic information, health data, or information related to minors.

How Information Is Obtained

  • Personal Information Voluntarily Shared: Information you provide directly when interacting with the chatbot.

Section 4. How Information Is Disclosed

We may disclose personal information that we collect or you provide as described in this Policy:

These parties are contractually obligated to maintain the confidentiality of personal information and to use it only for the purposes for which we disclose it to them.

We may also disclose your personal information to third parties as required to:

Unsubscribe From Communications

We do not send promotional emails directly to users. However, the colleges or universities we work with may send communications to you. To opt out of communications from colleges or universities, please refer to their respective privacy policies. Edulla is not responsible for fulfilling such requests once personal information has been shared with the institution.

Section 5. Retention Policy & Security Standards

Edulla cares about the security of your information and uses commercially reasonable physical, administrative, and technological safeguards to preserve the integrity and security of all information we collect. While we employ reasonable measures to protect your personal information, no system can be 100% secure. By using the Edulla Service, you acknowledge that any transmission of personal information is at your own risk. We cannot guarantee the security of your information and will not be liable for any breach of security unless such breach is caused by our negligence.

Data Retention

Edulla will retain your personal information for up to one (1) year unless longer retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes, such as compliance with educational regulations like FERPA. If your personal information has been shared with a college or university, their retention policies may apply.
